Platform, brand and competitions
A city-wide design competition
What came in
A city design competition backed by foundations and four universities needed its first open call online in a night, and then a platform that could carry corporate tracks with large partners year after year.
What we did
- Built the open-call site overnight to save the first launch, then owned all of the competition's design, marketing, PR and technical platform for six seasons, sitting on the organising committee across architecture, contemporary art, design and theatre.
- Launched a sister competition on high tech, 3D and biotech, with a three.js site built as a spaceship: scrolling moves the visitor between locations, and the nominated objects, a cycling helmet, a device photographed and rebuilt in 3D, turn in the visitor's hands.
- Ran registration platforms, corporate tracks with large companies, and teams of up to fifteen specialists across development, marketing and design.
What changed
A competition that has run for six seasons on its own platform, with corporate tracks. Fifteen thousand unique participants over the years, about four thousand a season in the last three or four, and more than 120 projects with partner companies, with winning projects that went into partners' production, porcelain tableware among them.
What was built
- Competition platform with registration
- A three.js site with interactive 3D nominations
- Brand, marketing and PR system
- Corporate track format
